blockit's your park!

Is there an issue which bothers you about the park?

Is there something you would like to see in the park?

Are you worried about some of the developments that are taking place?

The Friends of Broomhill are just ordinary residents like yourself who are trying to make the park a better place. We are only as good or bad as our membership allows. If you have views please contact us, or better still join our committee and/or task days volunteer group.

Or just come along to our Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 19th May, 7.00 for 7.30 pm, Strood Library - you will have the opportunity to speak, and make your views known.

blockour achievements

  • Bollards put up to stop fly-tipping. friends walk
  • Friends notice board and hill finger boards erected.
  • Involved the Payback Team and young Offenders in clearing litter and weeding.
  • Dialogue set up between the Friends, council and owners of the orchard which augurs well for future co-operation.
  • Monitoring anti-social behaviour and liaising with the Strood North PCSO's (led by PC Mick O'Meara), who now constantly patrol the area.
  • Where we have cleared the scrub and got the Council to keep various areas clear, there has been a marked decrease in anti-social behaviour.
  • Our latest success is getting the Council to take ownership of the Brompton Lane to Peyps Way footpath and in so doing, refurbished the surface and improved the lighting.  The Council have named it 'Friends' Walk.
  • In the near future, we are hopeful that the 'Two Rivers' View' (a spot where you will be able to see the Thames and The Medway) will be opened up again.
  • Bins and benches improved.
  • Children's and teenagers' recreational facilities up-graded and added to.
  • Bulb and wild flower planting.new benchesbenches

The Friends group are working closely with Groundwork and Greenspaces Rangers to ensure that the hill is a safe, welcoming place that can be enjoyed by residents of Strood, Frindsbury and beyond.

We are actively seeking funding to carry out the plans shown in the Vision Document.

Strood needs this 'green lung'.

Help us keep it, maintain it and improve it.

Thank you
