Broomhill Park enhancement

The Friends of Broomhill are working with Medway Council to develop a £100,000 project to expand the formal play area by providing play equipment for 7 to 12 year olds.

The scheme also includes creative play by linking the top field to the lower field and its existing play area for younger children.  The new play equipment will be robust enough for older children and somewhere for young people to sit & meet.

Removal of a limited number of trees and bushes will give back the long views from the top of the hill.  There are to be two formal viewing points - one towards Rochester & Chatham and the other towards the Thames Estuary & Marshes.

The Friends have successfully applied for a Community Spaces Big Lottery grant.  This will be added to the money the council has received from the Play England’s Playbuilder programme.

The council has engaged Groundwork Kent & Medway to draw up designs for the Park’s access and play improvements.  The play equipment should be constructed and installed by our Summer Funday.

Local children were consulted on the choice of play equipment. The photographs are examples only, and do not reflect the exact design.
